Due to the projected path of Hurricane Irma and its probable impact on Tampa and the surrounding areas, Tampa Theatre has made the very uncool decision to postpone WineFest 2017: "Wine's World" to a later date. We are working with our vendors and sponsors now to choose that new date, and will announce it ASAP. Thanks Irma... NOT!
WineFest 2017 will be Party Time (Excellent!) when Wayne and Garth warm up the couch for three days of Wine’s World. This year’s event features bites from local independent restaurants, sips from the finest wineries, an exclusive evening of wine and food pairings, and a very special screening of this year’s theme film.
A two-tiered Wine Tasting invites you to taste dozens of boutique wines, sample favorite fare from Tampa’s top independent restaurants and bid on premium silent auction items representing Bay area retailers, restaurants, services and attractions.
The Theatre’s historic stage will be expanded to seat more than 275 for the elegant Wine Pairing. The multi-course menu, created and catered by Mise En Place chef Marty Blitz, will feature delectable small plates expertly paired with exquisite wines. Table sponsorships are available; please contact Maggie Webber at email@example.com or 813-274-8680 for details.
Bring your blankets and bean bags and spread out on the extended stage for a “Movie Under the Stars” screening of the Mike Myers/Dana Carvey classic Wayne’s World, which is celebrating the 25thanniversary of its release.
And though the theme may be silly, WineFest’s purpose is most serious: now in its 16th year, WineFest is the landmark theatre’s biggest annual fundraiser. Event chair Michael Stanton notes that Tampa Theatre is “magically babelicious” (as far as majestic movie palaces go), and “basically it costs nothing to operate a dynamic film and cultural center 365 days a year for the benefit of the communty… NOT.”
“Actually,” Stanton says, “the WineFest committee gets to create these excellent annual events that benefit the historic movie palace’s artistic, educational and community programs, as well as the 90-year-old movie palace’s ongoing preservation and restoration. We’re not worthy! We’re not worthy!”
