Despite his family’s generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor (Gael García Bernal), the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

A loving cultural tribute with Academy Awards for both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, Coco is a deep but approachable film in the Miyazaki tradtion, with rich visuals matched by a thoughtful narrative that takes a family-friendly — and deeply affecting — approach to questions of culture, family, life, and death.

This free, outdoor screening will take place at Al Lopez Park, 4810 N. Himes Avenue in Tampa. Picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged!
