The Blind Side (2009)
The Blind Side is the story of Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), a young and talented offensive lineman who seems headed for greatness in football, despite huge problems as he moves through foster care and academic difficulties at school. Left on his own, he finds himself out on the street when the parents of a friend decide to take him in. The mother in his new “family,” Leigh Anne (Sandra Bullock in the role that won her a Best Actress OSCAR), resolves to help him by seeking adoption and improving his grades so that he can get into college and become the NFL star he’s destined to be — but his old life calls him back, and Mike will have to figure out what path he wants to take. Based on a true story and adapted from a book by Michael Lewis (which also traces the rise of the role of blind-side offensive lineman in professional football), The Blind Side is an inspirational and heartwarming tale of the family you choose, and the ways love can change your life.
Following the screening, special guest Quinton “Big Mike” Aaron will answer audience questions and pose for photos. A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit the Quinton Aaron Foundation, which provides hope and encouragement to children and students who are being bullied.
