1h 22m / PG / Fantasy

Join Tampa Theatre, the Florida Aquarium and Film Tampa Bay on the red carpet for a very special premiere screening of The Little Mermaid – a modern-day retelling of the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale and the first feature film from Kingsway Productions and Conglomerate Media and executive producer Jessica Steinbrenner.

Cam Harrison (William Moseley), a young journalist travels with his ailing niece, Elle (Loreto Peralta), to Mississippi in search of the magical healing potion that has been sweeping the nation. In his journey he discovers a traveling circus claiming to have a real live Mermaid (Poppy Drayton). Intrigued by what could be, but filled with suspicion over the Mermaid’s validity, Cam travels to the Circus with Elle. There they discover not only that the Mermaid is real, but that she is being held captive by the evil wizard Locke (Armando Gutierrez), as she is the key behind the magical potion. Cam and Elle develop a growing friendship with the Mermaid and want to free her from Locke’s spell. But in order to do so, they must figure out how to get past Locke and his evil sidekick.

Special pre-film photo-ops on the red carpet will include the world-famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids and The Florida Aquarium street team, starting at 6:15pm. After the movie, stars Poppy Drayton and William Moseley, and director Blake Harris will be live on the Tampa Theatre stage for a discussion and audience Q&A.
