A Christmas Story (1983)

Dates and Times

Everyone who saw A Christmas Story on its original release to theaters knew they were seeing a classic movie: a perfect glimpse of a particular moment from the past. It reviewed well. But the trouble was that not very many people saw it. Luckily for us all, it was given a whole new life on home video and, later, on cable – stations still sometimes run it for 24 hours at a stretch during the Christmas season. How sad it would be, if we didn’t have the adventures of Ralphie and his Christmas dreams to remember! His yearning for his Daisy Red Rider BB gun, his torture by bullies in the merciless cold of a Midwest winter, his old man’s lamp, the gin-blossomed department store Santa — and all of the other moments from this movie that have become our own memories as its fans.

This film will be presented as a FREE community screening at Curtis Hixon Park as part of the Tampa Downtown Partnership's Winter Village event. Lawn seating is first-come, first-served, so please don’t forget your blankets or folding lawn chairs. Refreshments will be available for sale from Tampa Theatre and a variety of other Winter Village vendors.

Presenting spectacular cinema outdoors is no small endeavour, and it is through the generous support of several community sponsors that the Theatre is able to purchase the equipment necessary to provide a quality viewing experience for our presentations in the park:
