Heat (1995)

2h 50m / R / Crime Drama

Dates and Times

Heat is the best crime movie ever made (don’t @ us), mostly because – and here it has something in common with most “best genre movie ever” contenders – it’s about more than crime. Yes, it has the best choreographed shootout scenes ever put on film; yes, it presents director Michael Mann’s most cohesive and perfected vision of the intricacy of planning and executing a heist; yes, it’s full of quotable dialogue; yes, it pairs up two of the finest actors of their generation for the first time. But primarily, Heat is about the relationship between a criminal chasing the high he gets from crime (Robert De Niro), and a cop (Al Pacino) being destroyed by his obsession with bringing him to justice. That relationship, the whole “we’re not so different, you and I” meeting between anti-hero and charismatic villain, has become a cliché primarily because Heat did it so well, nobody else ever needs to.

On top of just showing an amazing film, this special Prime-Time REWIND presentation is made extra-special with the inclusion of a live-streamed interview with director Michael Mann himself at 8:30pm, with the film to follow.  We have run out of space to talk about all the things that make this movie a masterpiece. This is literally a one-of-a-kind opportunity. Drop whatever plans you have, and join REWIND for this exclusive presentation of Heat.
