Dates and Times

Drawing from 100+ hours of never-before-seen footage that has been tucked away in the National Geographic archives for more than 50 years, award-winning director Brett Morgen tells the story of Jane Goodall, a woman whose chimpanzee research challenged the male-dominated scientific consensus of her time and revolutionized our understanding of the natural world. Set to a rich orchestral score from legendary composer Philip Glass, the film offers an unprecedented, intimate portrait of Goodall — a trailblazer who defied the odds to become one of the world’s most admired conservationists.

Morgen compiles a definitive portrait of one of the most pre-eminent public science figures of our time, stitching together the long-lost National Geographic footage with a new interview filmed over two days in Tanzania. With Goodall now in her eighties, Jane showcases not just the comprehensive vision of what would become the world’s longest continuous study of animals in their natural habitat, but also the depth and breadth of a life lived in service of knowledge. Tampa Theatre is proud to be included in the limited early release of what will surely end up one of this year’s most acclaimed documentaries.
