TAMPA THEATRE ANNOUNCES DATES AND THEMES FOR RETURN OF BEERFEST AND WINEFEST
Majestic Movie Palace’s Popular Movie-Themed Fundraisers Support Historic Landmark’s Programming and Preservation
TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2017) – In the tongue-in-cheek spirit of such events as The Brews Brothers, Beer & Loathing in Las Vegas, Planet of the Grapes and Napoleon Wineamite, the community-supported Tampa Theatre is proud to announce the dates and themes for its two biggest fundraisers of the year.
BeerFest 2017 kicks summer into high gear with Barley’s Angels on Saturday, June 24, featuring craft beers and local brewers, plus snacks and samples from some of Tampa’s top independent restaurants. A limited-capacity premium sampling will begin at 7:00 p.m., and grand sampling ticket-holders can enter at 8:00 p.m. Costumes inspired by the grrl-power action movie starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu are encouraged!
Then September will be Party Time (Excellent!) when WineFest 2017 invites Wayne and Garth to warm up the couch for three days of Wine’s World, Friday, Sept. 8 – Sunday, Sept. 10.
- On Friday, a two-tiered Wine Tasting invites you to taste dozens of boutique wines, sample favorite fare from Tampa’s top independent restaurants and bid on premium silent auction items representing Bay area retailers, restaurants, services and attractions.
- On Saturday, the Theatre’s historic stage will be expanded to seat more than 275 for the elegant Wine Pairing. The multi-course menu, created and catered by Mise En Place chef Marty Blitz, will feature delectable small plates expertly paired with exquisite wines. Table sponsorships for the are available; please contact Maggie Webber at email@example.com or 813-274-7257 for details
- Then on Sunday, bring your blankets and bean bags and spread out on the extended stage for a “Movie Under the Stars” screening of the Mike Myers/Dana Carvey classic Wayne’s World, which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its release.
And though the themes may be silly, the purpose of these events is most serious: BeerFest and WineFest together raised $162,000 last year to benefit the not-for-profit historic movie palace’s artistic, educational and community programs, as well as its ongoing preservation and restoration.
