And though the theme may be stupendous, WineFest’s purpose is most serious: now in its 19th year, WineFest is the landmark theatre’s biggest annual fundraiser – one that they were forced to skip in 2021 due to the pandemic.

Event chair Rachel Radawec notes that the nonprofit Tampa Theatre has ‘Come Alive’ since its rescue from demolition in the mid-‘70s, but that the past few years have been like walking a ‘Tightrope’ to keep the historic movie palace funded through its year-long COVID closure and post-pandemic recovery. “We’re lucky to have finally made it through to ‘The Other Side,’” Radawec says. “But it’s ‘Never Enough’ just to get the doors back open. We can put on ‘The Greatest Show’ every single night, but this majestic landmark still needs the support of its community to continue providing the kind of artistic and educational programming Tampa Theatre is known for.

“It goes without saying that the past two years have been rough,” Radawec notes, “But ‘From Now On,’ we’re focused on our 100th Birthday in 2026, and ‘A Million Dreams’ for our Second Century beyond that.”

WineFest guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite character or come in a Showman-inspired costumes.
