Share your Tampa Theatre Memories

Tampa Theatre, the historic gem of downtown Tampa, is calling on residents to dust off their memory boxes and join in a special “Spring Cleaning” initiative as the Theatre prepares to celebrate its 100th birthday in October 2026. The Theatre is inviting the community to share old photos, ticket stubs, stories, and memorabilia from visits to this beloved cultural landmark—whether they’re personal treasures, heirlooms from parents, or keepsakes passed down from generations before.

From first dates under the starry ceiling to family outings for classic films, Tampa Theatre has been a backdrop to countless memories since opening its doors in 1926. Now, as the Theatre approaches its centennial milestone, it’s time to unearth those stories and artifacts that capture its rich history.

Residents are encouraged to submit their items and stories in one of two ways:

  • Preserve and Return: Especially precious items can be brought to the Theatre, where they will be photographed or scanned with care and returned to their owners.
  • Donate to the Archives: The Theatre is also happy to accept donations of photos, ticket stubs, and ephemera, which will be preserved in Tampa Theatre’s archives for future generations to enjoy.

To participate, you can:

  • Fill out the form below
  • Email us at memories@tampatheatre.org
  • Call Jill Witecki at 813-274-8287 to arrange a submission
  • Mail items to Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin Street, Tampa, FL  33602

For mailed or emailed submissions, please include your contact information so we can send our thanks and coordinate with you to sign the materials release below, giving us permission to use and archive your memories.

The Theatre will continue collecting through the fall as part of its centennial preparations, and we appreciate your help in bringing the story of Tampa Theatre’s first century to life!

Want to support the centennial but don’t have a personal story or physical item to share? Contribute to the Second Century Campaign! Every dollar donated directly funds the critical improvements that will keep Tampa’s magnificent movie palace innovative, accessible, and world-class for future generations.
