George Woodhouse (Michael Fassbender), an intelligence operative for the National Cyber Security Center in London, is already used to functioning in a high-suspicion environment. In the past, he’s been able to leave that perspective at work. He shares a trusting, passionate relationship with his wife Kathryn (Cate Blanchett) — an intelligence operative herself. They have long established that secrets too dangerous to share even between themselves go in the “black bag,” never to be discussed. But when George is handed a list of suspects in the theft of a sophisticated piece of software, capable of crippling nuclear facilities and upending the entire world order, his wife’s name is on it. So it’s time to open the bag. George’s plan to get to the bottom of this? Host a dinner party with all five suspects, Kathryn included, and try his own hand at an Agatha Christie-style locked-room mystery.
