Coco (2017)

1h 45m / PG / Animated, Family

Despite his family’s generations-old ban on music, young Miguel (voiced by Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor (Gael García Bernal), the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

A loving cultural tribute with Academy Awards for both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, Coco is a deep but approachable film in the Miyazaki tradition, with rich visuals matched by a thoughtful narrative that takes a family-friendly — and deeply affecting — approach to questions of heritage, family, life, and death.

This special “Mummy & Me” screening is FREE for ages 12 and younger.

Coco is presented in partnership with the City of Tampa’s Community Engagement & Partnerships Department and the Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Committee .
