FREE COMMUNITY SCREENING AT SPARKMAN WHARF

2006 was the start of something new. Disney Channel original movies, part of Disney’s programming since 1983, were (with a few exceptions) rarely better than average made-for-television films of the era. But when High School Musical debuted, it popped like fireworks — genuine stars on the rise, genuinely catchy and well-crafted songs, and exactly the right tone of painfully earnest teenage life mixed with witty self-deprecation. Troy and Gabriella could have been our friends. Sharpay and Ryan could have been our frenemies. We were all Wildcats.

And now, two decades later and riding a powerful wave of early-aughts nostalgia, High School Musical is bringing a whole new generation into the warm, color-blocked embrace of sugar-sweet high school drama. And keeping those of us who remember it the first time around bopping to the songs and singing right along. So join Tampa Theatre and Sparkman Wharf for this special sing-along outdoor presentation of High School Musical, the original and best! We’re all in this together, after all.

The first 100 guests will also receive a free LED fan, courtesy of series sponsor QC®, and a free bag of Tampa Theatre’s famous popcorn, starting at 6:00 pm. Ticket Not Required for this event, but seating is limited.
