After many of his fellow writers for the famous French journal, Cahiers du cinéma, start making their own first movies, young Jean-Luc Godard decides making films is the best film criticism. He convinces producer George de Beauregard to fund a low-budget feature, a movie about an aspiring gangster that he co-writes with fellow critic and friend François Truffaut. Nobody knows, but it’s about to change everything.

Shot in the style of the movie itself, Nouvelle Vague is director Richard Linklater’s perspective on the creation and shooting of Breathless, one of the first and most influential films of the New Wave movement in French cinema.
