Once Upon a Time in a Cinema follows the travails of beleaguered movie theater owner Earl Clancy (Colin Morgan) as he faces a series of disasters, any one of which could sink him. Drawing from writer/director David Gleeson’s own experience growing up in a family of cinema owners (his father’s 78-year career is believed to be the longest in the cinema business in Ireland), Once Upon a Time in a Cinema is a heartfelt tribute to the theatrical experience, showing that cinemas are not just places to watch movies, but places where communities come together.
