Tales from the Hood is an anthology film of four short stories, each presenting different horror scenarios featuring a cast of Black actors, framed by a Cryptkeeper-like storyteller, a creepy mortuary owner named Mr. Simms (Clarence Williams III).

Rogue Cop Revelation is about justice delivered from beyond the grave to a group of racist, corrupt, murderous cops. Boys Do Get Bruised is a fantasy about a bullied and abused kid who finds a new way to protect himself and his loved ones. KKK Comeuppance is … frankly, you can get the important parts from the title, but it’s the story of a racist politician who sets up office in a former plantation house and pays the price. And Hard-Core Convert is a morality play about gang violence, the tale of a ‘90s-style gangbanger named Crazy K who undergoes a torturous experiment that is claimed to offer him a chance at redemption. Also stars Corbin Bernsen, Rosalind Cash, and David Alan Grier.

Stick around after the screening for a post-show Film Talk with horror genre expert Jose Cruz, an author, editor, and librarian currently at work on a book chronicling the pre-code stories of EC Comics. 

This screening is held in the Historic Duncan Auditorium. This space utilizes open seating for this event, seat selection is not required.
