This delightful documentary about growing old in Hollywood that proves it’s never too late to follow your dreams, Troupers is a funny and inspirational look at the lives of 12 accomplished actors who spent a lifetime pursuing their passion. All are over 80 and give new meaning to the phrase, “hang in there” as they share how they survived parental disapproval, the black list, poverty, divorce, rejection, depression, critics, and decades of auditions just to do what they love. Featured in the cast are Pat Carroll, Kaye Ballard, Carl Ballantine, Betty Garrett, Jane Kean, Harold Gould, Marvin Kaplan, Bruce Kirby, Ivy Bethune, Justine Johnston, Allan Rich and Connie Sawyer.

Presented by Suncoast Credit Union and sponsored by Seniors in Service, this special screening will include a post-show panel discussion with Troupers director Saratoga Ballantine (actor Carl Ballantine’s daughter), who will discuss her passion for the film and the importance of remaining active, connected and purposeful as we age.

About Seniors in Service: Our mission is to provide solutions to community challenges by engaging volunteers aged 55+. So we ARE the Volunteer People if you’re 55 or older! We connect Baby Boomers to the volunteer opportunity of their dreams. Whether you’re called to help elderly, kids, veterans, families, we can connect you to the service that calls your heart. Use the skills you’ve spent a lifetime gaining to help Tampa Bay. And, if you think you don’t have skills, we’ll show you differently. Our volunteers have an over 94% success rate in helping the most challenged kids learn to read AND 96% of elders who receive companionship from our volunteers say they feel more able to remain living independently. Our volunteers are “Game Changers” in people’s lives in Tampa Bay.

This screening is presented by Suncoast Credit Union and sponsored by Seniors in Service, AARP Tampa Bay, Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference, New York Life, and Tampa General Hospital.
