Tuesday (2024)

1h 51m / R / Fantasy

Tuesday is the singular story of a girl named Tuesday (Lola Petticrew), who is terminally ill and approaching the end of her life, and her bereft mother Zora (Julia Louis-Dreyfus, in a profoundly moving performance), who cannot accept the inevitable for her only daughter. Tuesday on the other hand apparently can, and when Death itself appears suddenly in her hospice room in the form of a shape-changing talking macaw (Arinze Kene is the voice of “Death” here), she rolls with it. This is an end-of-life visit he makes for people and all living creatures around the globe, but Tuesday is quite a feisty customer and instantly strikes up a relationship with the bird — until Zora pops in and tries to kill him.

From debut filmmaker Daina O. Pusić, Tuesday is a heart-rending fairy tale about whether letting go means losing, and finding resilience in the unexpected within yourself.
