Assistant House Manager – Job Description

Summary:

The Assistant House Manager is a part-time hourly employee whose primary function is the daily operation and supervision of the Front-of House Department and its staff. This position ensures company goals, guidelines and standards are met on a daily basis by our part-time team. This position serves to support the Senior House Manager in all aspects of the Front-of House operation and serves as the Theatre’s Manager on Duty in the absence of the Senior House Manager.

General description of responsibilities:

-Train, motivate and supervise a diverse group of staff members working in the Box Office, Bar/ Concession Stand, and other Front-of-House Roles. Supervise Patron Services Leads.

-Provide coaching, corrective action and documentation on Front-of-House Staff performance.

-Participate in conducting annual staff reviews.

-Cover Front-of-House team member positions weekly.

-Prepare nightly bank deposits and consolidate the Theatre’s daily sales report into a master reconciliation report.

-Prepare all front-of-house paperwork to expected standards.

-Assist in hiring of staff members when needed.

-Open and close theatre securing all perimeters.

-Oversee security protocols are met and supervise security team during larger events.

-Maintaining a clean, safe and customer service oriented environment for our patrons.

-Respond quickly to guest feedback and concerns in a customer centric manner.

-Assist with the advancement of rental events. Communicate event updates to the Senior House Manager and events folder.

-Maintaining office filing system.

-Monitor concessions inventory, implement and maintain inventory controls.

-Serve as manager on School Field Trips.

-Oversee and assist with events, including event set-up tables, chairs, linens, and remote bars.

-Ensure OSHA and Health Standards are met.

-Ensure a clean and safe environment. Communicate cleanliness issues to Housekeeping personnel. Report safety concerns to the Senior House Manager and City of Tampa.

-Enforce house safety, cash handling, wardrobe and guest service policies.

-Provide guidance to staff and guest in the event of an emergency.

-Comfortable making announcement from stage as needed in emergency situations.

-Maintain regular communication with the Senior House Manager, Asst. House Manager and Patron Services Leads on the operation.

-Must maintain an exceptional level of attendance and promptness.

-Work closely with production personnel to coordinate and oversee the overall event success.

-Serve as Theatre’s Manager on Duty in the absence of the Senior House Manager.

-Other responsibilities as assigned by Tampa Theatre Senior Management, including attendance at the weekly staff meeting.

Required Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age

-Available for all morning field trips with notice, available Thursday – Sunday all times.

-Available for all live events with notice.

-Strong Reasoning skills. Identify problems, gather relevant data, and note possible causes of problems.

-Take action beyond what is necessarily called for, and perform tasks with a minimal amount of supervision.

-Perform under pressure and/or opposition, in a fast paced environment.

-Minimum of 1 year cash handling and supervisory experience

-Ability to lift 40lbs

-Ability to climb stairs, routinely throughout the shift

-Comfortable standing for extended periods of time

-Ability to write and speak English fluently

-Strong Mathematical Skills

-Strong computer skills (Word, Outlook, and Excel)

-Experience working in a customer centered environment

-Ability to consistently display a positive, friendly and energetic attitude and appearance

-Must be available weekends, holidays and evenings.

-Comfortable working in a small ticket booth for extended periods of time

-Minimal time-off needs are expected

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience with MICROS/ Oracle point-of–sale

-Experience supervising or managing bar staff

-Experience working in a theater or other ticketing office

-Experience supervising volunteers

 

Reports to:  Anthony J Gonzalez (Senior House Manager)

This part-time position will receive an hourly rate of $13.00. The employee will work 15-32 hours a week, with a 6 month average of 20hrs a week. Schedules will entail mainly evenings, weekends, and holidays. The exact schedule from week to week will vary depending on the Theatre’s event schedule. This position will work most holidays, at a time and a half rate. Primary work days will be Thursday-Sunday.
